Just A Girl Initiatives Mourns the Loss of 11-Year-Old Amie Zinnah

Just A Girl Initiatives is deeply saddened to announce the passing of 11-year-old Amie Zinnah, a brilliant and bold young girl who tragically passed away at Firestone Hospital in Harbel after a brief illness. Amie’s untimely death has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of everyone who knew her, and her vibrant spirit will be missed by all.

Amie was a proud participant in Just A Girl Initiatives' 2023 Vacation Enrichment Program, where she stood out as a shining star full of promise. Her intelligence and determination made her a beloved figure not only at Just A Girl but also at her former schools, St. Pius X Catholic School and Destiny Kids Foundation School.

Amie was known for her boldness, making friends with senior students in the 12th grade, despite the vast age difference. One memory that still resonates with St. Pius students was when Amie boldly declared that she would be among the next list of honored students, setting an ambitious goal of achieving 90% average by the end of her second marking period exams—a goal she, unfortunately, did not live to see.

Amie’s death, caused by a preventable illness, has underscored the urgent need for better child health awareness.

Her loss has devastated us as staff and executives of Just A Girl, her classmates, especially at St. Pius, where many students cannot stop crying.

Her bright future was tragically cut short, but her legacy will live on in the lives she touched and the dreams she inspired.

In honor of Amie’s memory, Just A Girl Initiatives will be launching a fundraiser to support public health awareness campaigns aimed at educating schools and communities about child health and the prevention of treatable illnesses. It is our mission to prevent another child like Amie from suffering the same fate.
